Recap of Session 2 for Mums of Under 1's: The Maternity Space

Updated: Sep 23

Here is a quick recap of our second session of The Maternity Space - the session was held for mums who have given birth in the last year.

In today's group session, we explored a topic that’s on every parent’s mind—vaccinations and immunizations for baby health. We were joined by our lovely Practice Nurse, Jaynnes, who shared the 101 for Childhood Vaccinations and answered some of your burning questions around vaccinations, baby's reaction to it and side-effects as well as common concerns as parents.

Here's a recommended video from Jaynnes, about how vaccines work:

Since vaccines were introduced in the UK, diseases like smallpox, polio, and tetanus, which once caused widespread death and disability, have either been eradicated or are now extremely rare. However, if vaccination rates drop, infectious diseases could quickly resurge.

There are several vaccines that children need, and you can find a list of them below and on the NHS website. Timely vaccination is crucial for the best protection.

All recommended vaccines are offered free of charge through the NHS.

If you or your child missed any recommended vaccines, you can still contact your GP to catch up.

Here's another recommended video by Jaynnes:

It’s all about empowering you with the knowledge to make informed decisions without feeling overwhelmed. Let’s ensure our babies stay healthy and happy from the start!

We hope you found this recap helpful! If you have any questions/ need a consultation with your doctor, please contact your GP!

We look forward to seeing you in next week's session.
